# Setting up cash drawer for Star TSP receipt printer

Guide on how to connect your cash drawer to your Star TSP receipt printer so it opens automatically when a receipt is printed.

Setup of Star TSP receipt printer (TSP100/143 Cutter) for Windows.

**Note: This only works if the cash drawer is directly** [**connected to the receipt printer via RJ12 Cable**](https://helpcenter.c1st.com/en/articles/5403030-setting-up-star-tsp143-receipt-printer.md)**. If the cash drawer is connected differently, this guide won't help you.**

## Setup

1.  Open **Printers and Scanners** in Windows (You can search for it under Start).
    
2.  Find your receipt printer (**Star TSP100 Cutter**) and click **Manage** under it.
    
3.  Then press **Printer Properties.**
    
4.  Next, choose the **Device Settings** tab.
    
5.  **Peripheral Unit Type** changes from **Buzzer** to **Cash Drawer**
    
6.  **Peripheral Unit 1 (**1) is set to **Top** _or_ **Bottom** on the **Document**.
    
7.  Save the settings by clicking **OK** at the bottom.
    
    _PS: If an extra window pops up asking if you want to save the configuration, press_ **_Yes._**
    

When the settings are saved, you can test if the cash drawer opens when you print by **printing a test page** from Windows or a test receipt inside the app under **Settings -> Print -> Receipt -> Test**
